Barber Family lineage
David Barber, b. ~1801, d. May, 1869
- was bound out as a boy to be an apprentice to Anthony Armstrong. When he turned 21, he remained in Turbot Twp., outside of Milton, Northumberland county, PA.Could they have been relatives, and David taken in when his parents, or at least his mother, passed away? A daughter of Dr. Thomas Pollock (born in Coleraine, County Londonderry, Ireland) married a David or Davis Barber in Northumberland County in the late 1700s, but I can find no mention of their children, or even her first name.
David, born 1801, married Mary Jones and raised 7 children* (Jane, William, Anthony A., Margaret, Isaac, Catharine, and Washington). Supposedly buried in old Harmony Cemetary, Milton, PA. See article: USGenWeb for Turbot Township
His son, Isaac, born 1835, died 192?, was a Civil War veteran. He was a member of Battery I of the 12th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteers. He married Lucy A. Hester (1835-1863) who bore two children*, Harry and Ida (1861-1949). He remarried to Sarah J. Krisher who bore him another son, Spencer (1884-1962).
Isaac's son, John Harrison, aka Harry, lived 1860-1913. He married Margaret Palmer, lived in Milton, PA, and had 8 children* (Ida May, Bertha Maude who died young, twins Alma and Annis who died young, Wilbur, Follmer, Mary Ellen and LaVere)
LaVere Oran Barber (1898-1949) married Catharine Louisa Jows (1901-1972) of White Deer, PA and they had 2 children* (Helen and Neil).
Helen Elizabeth Barber (1923-1983) married George Irvin Golder (1921-1991), resided in Northumberland and Union counties of PA, and raised 5 children* (Elizabeth Marie, George David, Nancy Louisa, Ronald Lavere, and Amy Jeanette).
Neil Larue Barber (1927-2011) married Mary Elizabeth Snyder (1928- ), resided in Northumberland and Cumberland counties, and raised 4 children* (C E, R N, T L, and S G).
